Best Performance Systems’ 3 Step Action Plan
Step 1 Client Assessment & Training Course Customization
- Identify goals & objectives. Create action plan with management.
- On-site at the Company to evaluate employee work habits, the use of tools and equipment, procedures and ergonomic conditions and review the history of past injuries.
- Conduct anonymous employee surveys and one-on-one interviews to actively involve your employees in the development of their program and to reveal hidden problems. Best Performance Systems shows respect for employees’ ideas for improving efficiency and eliminating waste.
- Develop the customized training curriculum, including print materials, in easily understood English and Spanish.
- Plan a flexible training schedule for each department taking into account shift constraints and the Client’s productivity needs.
Step 2 Training Phase
Supervisor Training Classes
Supervisors’ positive behavior is a necessary factor in reducing the number of workplace injuries, increasing high-quality productivity, retaining valuable employees & boosting morale.
- Supervisors learn easy-to-follow, step-by-step skills to effectively motivate and lead their staff to work safer and more efficiently. Best Performance Systems successfully proves to them that people are far more productive when they work correctly.
- Supervisors learn leadership and team building skills to promote and support a positive attitude in their staff, their work and the safety procedures.
- Supervisors are taught to recognize and reward safe and efficient behavior and to eliminate at risk behavior on a daily basis, with little or no effort. Supervisors keep the program alive!
- Following this training, Best Performance Systems meets with Supervisors on a monthly basis to further their learning and development.
Front-Line Employee Training Classes
It is easy to have employees change their behavior to work safely and efficiently when Supervisors are present. The success of our program is having motivated employees working safely and efficiently when NO Supervisors are present.
- Best Performance Systems applies state-of-the-art Behavior Modification and Accelerated Learning techniques that motivate your employees to want to learn new skills and develop correct habits.
- Best Performance Systems teaches employees 5-second stretches specific to their job functions. They use them throughout the day based on the tasks they are performing and how they are feeling at that moment.
- Employees feel instant relief, so they consistently apply our techniques at work and at home. As they continue to experience less tension, fatigue and discomfort, they work faster – making fewer mistakes.
- Most training programs fail because they only tell or show employees what to do. Our program works because it is unique – your employees will experience what to do. Best Performance Systems develops an obstacle course for each department simulating their job tasks using their tools and materials. Once employees feel how much easier their work is using our techniques, they continue using them to work more efficiently and effectively. Best Performance Systems never tells employees to change their way of working – they make that choice themselves!
- All training materials are produced in English and Spanish when needed.
Positive Reinforcement Reminder & Incentive Programs
Incorporate on-going fun reminder and rewards programs to positively reinforce the lessons learned in the training classes to remind employees to use safe and efficient techniques.
These programs will effortlessly integrate with the company’s existing programs. The foundation of our program includes:
- A pre-shift 30-second interactive mini training led by Supervisors. Each day employees review one skill specific to their jobs.
- The “Kudos” program rewards employees “caught” using good work habits and “redirects” employees using inefficient work habits rewarding them for their efforts.
- The Observation Report Cards (ORC) – this voluntary observation and rewards program gives employees the opportunity to be rewarded for observing safe and unsafe behavior and physical conditions throughout the company. They are also rewarded for influencing their fellow team members to work more efficiently.
Management Controls
Management has a simple system to keep track of participation which empowers them to guarantee company wide participation.
Step 3 Integration Phase
The Integration Phase is the necessary component for the program to be successful. This is a significant contributory reason Best Performance Systems uniquely has a 100% success rate.
The initial trainings motivate and educate the workers and supervisors. The new learned skills are not yet habitual and it is human nature that what is not consistently applied is soon forgotten. If all levels of your staff do not remember and apply the skills, the training is a waste of your time and resources.
In the 3 months Integration Phase, Best Performance Systems works with the company, stimulating all staff members in many ways to use the safe and efficient skills, to apply the reminder and reward systems… until they become a habit. It will be effectively applied daily and for years.
The Best Performance Systems program is customized to each company. This phase has basic components, but includes an evaluation of the evolving culture and responds to what is going on in the company.
Basic components of the Integration phase:
- 1-2 one hour meetings with supervisors per month for additional skills and assist with challenges in Ergonomics, employee technique and influencing workers to embrace new and efficient techniques. (Delegating, motivating, positive communication, coaching, Team Building, Accident investigation, sparking creativity and more)
- Supervisors learn to deliver 30 second pre-shift mini trainings. Delivered 1-5 times per week, each is an interactive reminder of some aspect of the training the workers received. Best Performance Systems assists the supervisor staff to get them confident and competent in the delivery.
- Meet with Supervisors to enhance ability to recognize the activities and situations to reward with a Kudos card
- Meet with workers in pre-shift meetings and on the production floor to get their ideas, complaints and suggestions. Take these and the list from the workshops and meet with management to prioritize and take action on several worker generated ideas. Once done, celebrate the workers whose ideas are used. Best Performance Systems influences your entire staff to be proactive at making positive changes in “their” workplace.
- Attend first 2-3 safety raffles and assist management to maximize the opportunity to train and influence efficiency.
- Best Performance Systems actively works with staff to develop “Ergo Teams”: 2-4 workers with problems or complaints are assisted by a supervisor and several peers to correct technique, ergonomics and apply stretch to eliminate physical stress.
Best Performance Systems’ Kaizen Continuous Improvement Program
Best Performance Systems‘ role is to assist the Client in the gradual and continuous long-term improvement of efficiency, productivity & physical stress reduction.
Members of our team are present for monthly meetings to evaluate, alter as needed, and then re-evaluate the progress being made to maximize the results of employees applying their new habits until the safety culture is well-established and self-perpetuating. This program builds on the foundation established during the initial phase of training.
- Organization walk-through and attend pre-shift meetings to answer employees questions, concerns and to listen to ideas for improvement.
- Meet with Supervisors to problem solve and fine tune the techniques they have learned, to teach new performance enhancing leadership and team building skills.
- Meet with Management concerning issues and concerns for improvement; review and adjust new systems & procedures; evaluate injuries and how they are being treated; assist with the purchase of new equipment as needed.
- Assume an active role in the Safety Committee meetings.
